Victor Wang

Co-Founder and CEO

Victor served as an army officer while earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering. He received his Master of Science from MIT, where he researched human-machine interaction for NASA’s telerobotics program and taught graduate product design and management courses. With experience working in environmental research, aerospace, particle physics, energy, medical robotics, and clinical research, Victor was inspired to start GeriJoy by his home-bound grandmother. Victor is a frequent speaker at health care tech conferences, including On Lok Sustainable Long Term Care Conference, Connected Health Symposium, AARP Expo, CES Silvers Summit, and TEDMED

Shuo Deng

Co-Founder and CTO

Shuo received her PhD from MIT, where she completed her graduate studies at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. With research experience at Microsoft and Qualcomm, and a variety of overseas development experience, including in India and China, Shuo is an expert in software, networks, and mobile systems. She has multiple patents and publications in these areas. Also a graduate of Tsinghua University in the field of Automation, Shuo brings her extensive skill set to GeriJoy, where she works on technology development, network architecture, and security.


Medical Director

Dr. Chau  has been listed as a US News & World Report Top Doctor every year since 2011. Dr. Chau is the PACE Medical Director of San Ysidro Health Center, Managing Director of HealthVerge, Associate Professor (past Program Director of Geriatrics) at UC San Diego, and Medical Director at the San Diego VA Health System CLC. Dr. Chau is a board-certified hospice & palliative internist and has been an Albert Schweitzer Fellow for Life since 1991.


Program Manager

Brittany earned her Master’s in Gerontology at San Francisco State University, where she also served as President of the SFSU Honors Society in Gerontology. She has spent the past several years leading activities, life enrichment, and dementia/memory care programming at senior care providers such as Sunrise Senior Living and AgeSong. She also served as the Business Office Director at AgeSong.

Jennie Chin Hansen

Jennie has served as President of the 38 million member AARP, and CEO of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS). Prior to the AARP, she spent over 20 years with On Lok Senior Health Services, where as CEO she led the adoption of the Program of All Inclusive Care to the Elderly (PACE) for Medicare and Medicaid. PACE operates now in 30 states across the country. Jennie has served as a federal commissioner for the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), and currently sits on the board of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the SCAN Foundation, while holding leadership roles with organizations like the NIH National Advisory Council on Aging and the National Veterans Administration Advisory Committee on Geriatrics and Gerontology.

Esther Dyson

Esther was named by Forbes magazine as one of the most powerful women in American business, and is one of the most influential voices in technology. A former journalist and Wall Street technology analyst, Esther is a leading angel investor, philanthropist, and commentator focused on breakthrough efficacy in healthcare, government transparency, digital technology, biotech, and aerospace. Besides GeriJoy, Esther has invested in startups like Flickr and (acquired by Yahoo!), LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD), Medscape (acquired by WebMD), Medstory (acquired by Microsoft), and Startup Health, and has held board seats in companies like 23andMe, Meetup, and WPP Group. Esther recently founded HICCup.

Dolores Gallagher-Thompson, PhD

A renowned expert on caregiving, Dr. Gallagher-Thompson has served as a Professor in Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine for over 18 years, and is the Director of the Stanford Geriatric Education Center. Previously, she served as a Psychologist and Clinical Researcher with the VA for over 20 years, and she is most noted for her empirical studies on the efficacy of different types of psychosocial interventions to reduce stress and improve the psychological status of family caregivers of older adults with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. She received her degree in Psychology with concentration in Adult Development and Aging from USC in 1979 and has since authored over 200 papers in major journals in the field.

Dr. Joseph Kvedar

Dr. Kvedar is Founder & Director of the Partners HealthCare Center for Connected Health and a recognized visionary in his field. In 2010, Dr. Kvedar co-founded personal health technology company Healthrageous, which was acquired by Humana in 2013. He is a certified dermatologist, Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, past President and board member of the American Telemedicine Association, and board member of The Care Continuum Alliance. He is a mentor at Blueprint Health and Rock Health. Dr. Kvedar authors the popular cHealth Blog and co-edited Home Telehealth: Connecting Care within the Community, the first book to report on technology to deliver quality healthcare at home. He has authored 90+ publications.

Alexandra Morehouse

Alexandra Morehouse serves as Vice President of Brand for Kaiser Permanente. During the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, Morehouse rolled out strategic communications between consumers, Covered California and state and local agencies. Previously, Morehouse was CMO of the American Automobile Association and Chief Marketing Information Officer for Charles Schwab. She has also held senior leadership roles at American Express, and has been featured in Forbes, Business Week, the Economist and AdAge. She won the 2014 “Marketers That Matter” award from the Wall Street Journal and was a San Francisco Business Times “Most Influential” honoree three years in a row. Morehouse graduated with high honors from Harvard University and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dr. Brad Weinberg

Dr. Weinberg is a Founding Partner of Blueprint Health, a healthcare focused accelerator, co-working space, and educational community. Prior to founding Blueprint Health, he founded and wrote the software for ShapeUp, a provider of evidence-based health interventions using social networking, gaming, and incentives to employers and health plans. Dr. Weinberg has served as a senior analyst at the Brown University Investment Office and worked at Decisions Resources and Goldman Sachs. Dr. Weinberg earned his MD from the Brown University Medical School and a B.A. in business economics from Brown University. He lives in New York where he trains for road races and triathlons, when he is not writing code and talking to entrepreneurs.
