Victor served as an army officer while earning his Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering. He received his Master of Science from MIT, where he researched human-machine interaction for NASA's telerobotics program and taught graduate product design and management courses. With experience working in environmental research, aerospace, particle physics, energy, medical robotics, and clinical research, Victor was inspired to start GeriJoy by his home-bound grandmother. He's an internationally regarded thought leader in health care tech, having spoken at venues such as the On Lok Sustainable Long Term Care Conference, Connected Health Symposium, AARP Expo, CES Silvers Summit, and TEDMED.
Shuo is a PhD candidate at MIT in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. With research experience from Microsoft and Qualcomm, and a variety of overseas development experience, including in India and China, Shuo is an expert in software, networks, and mobile systems. She has multiple patents and publications in these areas. Also a graduate of the prestigious Tsinghua University in the field of Automation, Shuo brings her extensive skill set to GeriJoy, where she works on technology development, network architecture, and security.
Emily is an NYU-trained geriatric and medical social worker with professional experience through Kindred Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Brookdale Senior Living and Amedisys. Prior to entering the field of senior care, Emily was the Founder/CEO of OnlineHR Corp, a pre-Friendster B2B social networking company. She has also worked as a Corporate Sales Trainer for General Electric, NYC Sales Manager for Alberto-Culver, and Fundraising Director for UJA in NYC and SF. Over her career, Emily has had organizational development experience with 32 companies including HP, Apple, Sun, Siemens Medical Devices, and Stanford University. She holds five issued patents in social networking.
Terry is a business development professional with a passion for health and medicine. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology from San Francisco State University, and most recently worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, initially as Marketing Manager and later as a Business Development Manager responsible for driving long-term growth of Fortune 500 companies including major Bay Area pharmaceutical and technology firms such as Adobe Systems, Electronic Arts, Genetech, and Gilead Sciences. Terry is a member of the American Society of Microbiology, and volunteers as a Science Tutor/Mentor at Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula. He enjoys participating in research to advance health and medicine, such as Stanford University's microbiome and personal omics study.
Health Advocate Team Manager
Brittany served as a family caregiver for many years during her childhood, and earned her Master’s in Gerontology at San Francisco State University, where she also served as President of the SFSU Honors Society in Gerontology. She has spent the past several years leading activities, life enrichment, and dementia/memory care programming at senior care providers such as Sunrise Senior Living and AgeSong. She also served as the Business Office Director at AgeSong, where she reported directly to executive management and managed various aspects of HR and accounting. At GeriJoy, Brittany leads, coaches and develops GeriJoy's team of Health Advocates who work with vulnerable older adults.
Jeffrey Chen, MD
Dr. Jeffrey Chen is a board-certified Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the SF Bay Area. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University where he also earned his MD. He completed his psychiatry training at Emory University and the University of Washington where he was selected as Chief Resident. Jeff currently works for a non-profit mental health organization in addition to running a private practice. He has authored various journal articles and is interested in utilizing technology to improve mental health and quality of life.
